Neptune Theatre

About Neptune Theatre
Originally opened in 1921, Seattle’s Neptune Theatre underwent a major transformation in 2011 when Seattle Theatre Group® converted the historic single-screen cinema into a state-of-the-art performing arts venue. The seven-month renovation preserved the building’s architectural integrity while upgrading backstage areas, exposing the original stage and proscenium, and adding modern lighting, sound, and patron amenities. Reopened on September 25, 2011, with performances by Mark Lanegan and a screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the venue continues to honor its legacy through annual showings and diverse community programming. In 2018, STG replaced the aging marquee with a historically accurate digital replica, enhancing safety and preserving its iconic aesthetic. Today, the 1,000-capacity Neptune Theatre presents an eclectic mix of concerts, comedy, film, lectures, and cultural events, serving as a vital hub for both touring artists and local performers in Seattle’s University District.
